Leo has recovered!

Leo had his follow-up vet visit and the x-rays show he has healed. He has to build up his muscle mass on his leg, so you will see him limping, but he's pretty mobile and getting stronger each day. Since he needs exercise to build up the muscle area, letting him out is the best way to do that because that's how he walks/runs a lot. Of course he has his tracker on this collar, and of course we'll be making sure we find him each day so he can come home and rest. This picture shows that Leo and Thor are best buddies!

Wondering where Leo is????

On August 26, 2015 Leo got hit by a car while trying to cross Geddes Rd. (near Gallup Park)--WAY too far from home. Luckily, we found him in time to rush him to the vet (BluePearl Emergency) and save his life. He was truly near death. He had surgery on his hip and another joint in his back, and is now recuperating nicely. He has to live in a cage for 6-8 weeks without much activity for proper healing.

We'll need to make sure he is able to move freely and has built up his strength before letting him outside again.  Why would we risk letting him out again? Because he's the kind of cat that will urinate in the house if he feels trapped. He's had 11 years outside without incident and our hope is that he'll have at least as many more once he has sufficiently recovered. Thor is not so sure about all this--he's acting very tentative around Leo, but we hope he'll gradually realize it's just Leo!

So if you're used to Leo pestering you, you'll have a break for a while.

Leo and Thor have spring fever!

Leo and Thor have been enjoying the warmer spring weather. If you see them out and about, feel free to give them a belly rub, but don't believe them if they act like they need food. We feed them before they go out and when they return at the end of the day, and any time in between if they ask for it. If they eat at home, they won't think they should bug you on a regular basis!  And please let us know if they are bothering you--we're glad to come and get them.
